5 Tips To Finding Your Personal Style

*This is a collaborative post

Do you ever look at other people and wonder why they always look so great? You’re always going to find that some people just look put together all of the time. And you’ll probably be able to nail their style with one word. Whether it’s edgy or feminine, classic or trendy, you’ll know exactly what kinds of thing they’re likely to wear. And this is often the exact reason for why they look so good – because they have a personal style. We all have a personal style, but it can often take time to find. So if you feel like you’re not quite sure what your own personal style is, but you want to find it, these five tips should help.

1. Know What You Feel Comfortable In

One of the best ways to kick this off is to work out what you feel most comfortable in. Because you might like the look of some of the things that other people wear, but if you don’t feel comfortable in them, then you’re never going to wear them. So, you’re going to want to identify the styles of clothing and different fits that you really like. Then, from there, you can start to work on your overall personal style.

2. Organize Your Closet

Then, as you’ve started to work out what pieces look best on you, and what feels right to wear too, you’re then going to want to turn to your closet. Working through a bit of a closet organization will help you identify your personal style. Throw out what you don’t wear and don’t like and make a note of what kind of pieces they are. Pay attention to what you are keeping that is the beginning of identifying what your style is.

3. Look To The Trends

From here, you’re then going to want to look at the current trends. Now, you’re not going to do this so that you can copy them, or inject your wardrobe with them. But, instead, you need to be able to work out what kinds of looks you like, and what you don’t. This will help you to add new pieces going forward.

4. Lean Towards Pieces You Love

By this point, you should be able to work out what kind of looks you love. Whether you want to find yourself some hippie clothes for a vintage look, or high end pieces for a classic look. The point is to be able to find pieces that you love, and then work your look around them.

5. Find Inspiration Online

Finally, you should definitely use the internet to help. Because you can find lots of different inspiration online, to then create looks that you love. By starting a board on Pinterest, you’ll be able to consider what new pieces will look like in your wardrobe to then decide whether to go for them or not. Check out my Pinterest boards as a guide.
